Ah, this one has a long background story to it.
We switched servers a total of 4 times now, in 2 and a half years now.
We’ve been on Hetzner, Rootworld, BHost (twice) and finally settled with a dedicated server on yet another provider.
Long story short, don’t buy from BHost (ever).
They have horrible downtimes, mediocre transfer rates (with artificial speed limits per TCP socket, which of course they deny if you ask them or show them proof) and support in general is terrible (you are lucky to get a response from their support team at all).
In the end, we decided to go the proper route of all things web, and stick with a dedicated machine, which costs more, but is still bearable, thanks to the support we have received here on Patreon and the fact that we got the costs divided by 4, thanks to all our core team members willing to cover part of the cost.
So what does this mean for us in the future?
Less downtimes, better transfer speed, and of course a lot of wiggle room for future improvements in general!
